Last week the LA Times had a great article on new restaurants changing the downtown landscape. The information was stored on my mental hard drive, filed under “to-do .” Today, on a downtown LA walkabout outing, I “stumbled upon” Bottega Louie on 7th and Grand, very close to the Metro station and one block east of Macys. Bottega Louie is one of the places mentioned in the article, and I could not believe my luck. “There are NO accidents,” dijo Sigmund Freud and I do truly believe this place is a “keeper” como dice mi Tia Silvia. To start off, the place looks and feels like New York City and maybe even a little French, except it is huuuuuge, light and airy. You don’t need a reservation and you can stop by for the bar, the coffee tables or the restaurant. If you have a sweet tooth, go for the kill: try the lavender, chocolate or vanilla macarons at 1.75 a pop and you’ll almost forget your recession blues. Here are some pictures to entice you.
